UL Certification for Fast EV Chargers

In the rapidly expanding world of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, gaining a foothold in the U.S. market is no small feat. As the industry is projected to grow at a compound annual rate of 46.8 percent from 2017 to 2025, reaching $45.59 billion in revenue by 2025, we are thrilled to announce that SETEC POWER has achieved this milestone. We have recently acquired UL certification for our 60kW, 90kW, and 120kW DC Charging Stations, demonstrating our commitment to quality, safety, and performance.

What is the UL?

Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a globally recognized safety science company, provides the UL Mark — the single most accepted certification mark in the United States. A product bearing the UL certification demonstrates compliance with stringent safety and reliability standards, reflecting a commitment to protecting consumers and bolstering public confidence.

The UL Mark indicates to consumers that a product is safe and has been tested to OSHA’s stringent standards. UL certification is important because it demonstrates the competence of manufacturers and service providers.

What standard tests our EV chargers pass?

UL 2202

UL 2022 is titled “Standard for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging System Equipment” and specifically applies to equipment that supplies DC voltage, also known as UL category “FFTG”. This category includes Level 3, or DC fast chargers, which can be found along major highways as opposed to someone’s home.

Starting from June 2021, SETEC POWER embarked on the journey to obtain UL certification for our DC chargers. As the first Chinese company to do so, we faced numerous challenges such as finding a qualified laboratory and suitable testing machines for our EV chargers. Despite these hurdles, we were determined to invest the necessary time, effort, and resources to meet this high standard. We are proud to announce that our hard work has paid off, and we have received UL certification for our EV fast chargers.
